Lancaster Opal Area

Situated between the DART stations at the Lancaster-Kiest intersection and the Veterans Administration Medical Center, lies a small area ripe for redevelopment. City Wide CDC has assembled a block and one-half site between Lancaster Road, Sondra, Marfa and Hudspeth Avenues.

Currently, the Lancaster frontage contains a small retail area but the redevelopment vision proposes a three-story, high density, mixed use development that will include ground floor retail with housing above. Neighborhood services retail will line Lancaster, served by a small urban parking lane. Residential lofts and apartments will be complimented by a resort-styled pool, urban courtyards, and a resident club with community kitchen and entertainment programming. Direct access to parking is available throughout the development. Some of the housing options will target veterans and seniors.

Strong, urban streetscapes along the residential streets will lead the transition to two-story, carriage style housing adjacent to the surrounding single family neighborhoods.

Development is scheduled to begin in 2015.
