To lay the groundwork for revitalization of Lancaster Corridor, City Wide CDC was awarded a $1.5 million grant from the City of Dallas under the American Recovery Act of 2009 to acquire and build single family homes on 13 foreclosed lots in the Runyon Springs subdivision near the VA Medical Center.
Designed for home buyers at or below 50% of the area median income, each home contains about 1500 square feet with a sales price of $65,000 - $75,000. All 13 homes were sold and occupied. City Wide CDC continues to develop additional lots and build homes in the Runyon Springs neighborhood.
CityWide CDC was the first organization in the state to be certified “Green” by the Enterprise Foundation and the homes in the Runyon Springs neighborhood are built to green building standards.
